My MKIII Goal has come and gone! I’ve played 20 games with the coven to start off the edition, and I am excited to shift into a different focus – Using all the warcasters in the stable a few (probably 4-5) times to get reps with the entire faction.

Before that, though, I want to go through a bit of the experience with the Coven and what I learned from playing them, how I play them, and what I want to see them with. I’ve talked about them a ton, but I think, maybe, one more hash over their well trod ground could be good.

I have often said that I wanted to write a bit more about DMing, and I think I’ve found a way. Now, at least every other Tuesday, I will be writing about my DMing style, my research, and about what I do in order to create the game that I play in. This will not be a series on actually DMing a session, but instead on how to set up world that breaks the suspension of disbelief the fewest times while also giving the greatest felling of setting, time period, and culture.

Tuesday, I sat with a friend over lunch, and we chatted about Skorne, Warmachine, and the state of affairs of the edition. I would be lying if I said the topic was all sunshine and rainbows. There were a few salient points in the discussion, and it was not simply unworthy bitching. However, I mentioned that, and I believe this is verbatim, “every day that [PP] is silent, they loose the goodwill they built up,” and I don’t think that it was an unfounded sentiment. They needed to do something to stem the tide of anger and resentment, especially with Skorne, and partly with Cryx.

Well, they went and did it, and in such a way that they garnered back a lot of the good will they were loosing. Come, lets chat a little bit about it!

I’ve recently been reinvigorated by D&D 5th edition to further detail my campaign world that I’ve been DMing in for near on 20 years. I tried in 3.5 and 4, but it was an extremely long and cumbersome process.

I think that this edition has a few simple ways of giving characters a campaign setting feel: Backgrounds, Feats, and Devotional Oaths. Let me show you what I’m thinking!
