Each year, I author an event called Brawltimore in my local area. This year, for the first time, I managed to also qualify. While a friend and awesome organizer ran the event, I had the privilege of playing, and played four great opponents in four awesome rounds.

Now that I’ve finished suffering under Strugis, Its time for me to try and get some games in with our newest caster, Mortenebra 2. I received her on Thursday, assembled her, and had her ready to go for a game on Friday.
This one is a long one, so be forewarned.
Sturgis 2 at Bel Air Games 4/22.
As the first voted-on caster of the Tour de Cryx, I was excited to get him to a tournament and put Sturgis through the paces. That is not to say that I was excited to play Sturgis – I was decidedly not, but I had just gotten a win with him the other week – by sheer luck and force of will, so I hoped maybe I wouldn’t completely tank the tournament!
Last weekend – as I am writing this – I was able to attend an awesome event in Delware at The Icehouse. A 25 man tournament, with 32 slots, run over 2 days with tons of prizes. Competitive players were everywhere, and most games I heard of were awesome – I know all 4.5 of mine were!
In my journey to play each caster 5 times, I’ve not really kept pace. Hopefully, though, I’ll be able to Catch up. I’ve made my 4th game with Scaverous, and figured I’d drop a battle report for it real quick. (ha, you all know my Battle reports are long and unwieldy)
On Feb 4th, I played in my first tournament of the year, and I was stoked going into it. I’d not played in a competitive environment since around December, and I was looking forward to putting Scaverous on the table for the first time. I’d paired him with Skarre 2, because I knew a friend of mine was not going to be at the tournament, so the chances of a lethal Kara Sloan list was pretty low. It was a quick three rounder. Each rounds recap after the break!
I’ve not been playing a lot of games lately, but I’ve made some progress into my goals. One of the things I wanted to do was to get enough games in with a caster to get their feel before moving onward. I’ve been playing the game and playing cryx long enough to be able to sort out, with a modicum of reliability, how a caster feels and whether or not it plays right, in about 5 games. It doesn’t always give me a taste for the meta and how I utilize it in a tournament, which is a flaw, but I don’t get to enough tournaments to really make it my priority. I do worry about tournament boogeymen, but only in the dojo.
This’ll be my first written battle report with Goreshade 2, and its with the last iteration in his final game before Terminus.
Even with all the Pokemoning, the Valkyria Chronicling, The D&Ding, the Game Developing, and the Painting, the hobby I look forward to the most is playing Warmachine. The Coven being capable again, simply because of a meta change, is glorious, and I will continue to use them for a very long time. Though I’ve not gotten many games in recently, I did manage to get three in over the last few weeks. Two at a Team Tournament, and one on Tuesday. Two with the Coven, and one with a very enjoyable list, I think I’ll talk about the concepts and enjoyment I get out of it next week. The Coven games were very enlightening, and they highlighted a few spaces where I may not have had the best original concepts.
Read on, and we’ll get into both games!
In Zaal We Trust.
So. Game 2.
This past week, I got to play a game against a friend of mine who, awesomely, also plays Skorne. Sadly, I don’t get a lot of practice against it, so its good to throw down against someone who I think has a solid grasp of the game and can beat the snot out of me if I mess up. Now, I’d prefer this match up with my Cryx, again, I don’t get to play against Skorne, but playing against it is playing against it, no matter the faction.Continue reading
Battle Report: Zaal v. Asphyxious 2
I’d finally gotten my army back from Seattle, in pretty fantastic shape, if I do say so, and I’d been itching to throw down with some of my Skorne after getting pretty flustered with how Baranabus was treating me. I’d put the final coat of paint on Zaal just a few days before I left for Lock and Load, so he was on my mind. He’d not made the final cut into the foam for transport, either, so the whole time my army was in transit, he was sitting in front of my computer screen, mocking me. So hard did he mock me that I started thinking about how cool his list, Immortal Host, was and about how I have two units of Immortals, and how just flat out awesome it would be to put them on the board. The desire to do just that grew in me until it was bursting, and I knew I wanted to put him and his host of stone warriors on the board, and soon.
