For a certain segment of players, Lock and Load brought out a bunch of cool previews. Theme force Previews were among the largest, with Cryx, Legion, Khador, and Blindwater Congregation getting the most information regarding future themes. Additionally, it was revealed that each faction would be getting a model around Christmastime, hopefully every year, to ease a bit of the pain of not getting something on a regular basis. While many of these things were cool, I’m really excited about the Cryx stuff, because its what I am going to play. Lets take a look!
Recently, last week, actually, the Bane CID started. It began with the Theme force and a number of substantial changes to many of the Bane models, and continued the refinement this week. Additionally, this coincided with both the SR CID and the Battle Engines CID. I won’t talk much about SR this week – I will save that for next week when the final change log comes out, but I do want to talk about the Cryx Changes. Welcome back – to the Necrotechs Workshop!
On Feb 4th, I played in my first tournament of the year, and I was stoked going into it. I’d not played in a competitive environment since around December, and I was looking forward to putting Scaverous on the table for the first time. I’d paired him with Skarre 2, because I knew a friend of mine was not going to be at the tournament, so the chances of a lethal Kara Sloan list was pretty low. It was a quick three rounder. Each rounds recap after the break!
Every once in a while, the timelines of when I am going to do events and when I write won’t exactly mesh. During those times, I’m just gonna try and write up what I need to and get it out. So, here we go! Scaverous – First Look.
This year, like last year, I will be playing Cryx for the entire calendar year, and likely a 7 month stretch of 2018 as well. This will be the longest stretch I’ve played a single faction in many, many years. Two and a half years in a single faction is a prospect many people can’t really get a handle on.
I want to put a little twist on how I do it, though. I want to involve my 3 readers, the Cryx community, and any friends I happen to pick up along the way. So, whats the plan you say?
My return to the Dragonfathers ranks and the ride that I’ve had with Cryx has been pretty awesome. I’m not going to say I enjoyed every minute of it, but it was definitely a journey. Come, look with me at the year past!
I’ve not been playing a lot of games lately, but I’ve made some progress into my goals. One of the things I wanted to do was to get enough games in with a caster to get their feel before moving onward. I’ve been playing the game and playing cryx long enough to be able to sort out, with a modicum of reliability, how a caster feels and whether or not it plays right, in about 5 games. It doesn’t always give me a taste for the meta and how I utilize it in a tournament, which is a flaw, but I don’t get to enough tournaments to really make it my priority. I do worry about tournament boogeymen, but only in the dojo.
This’ll be my first written battle report with Goreshade 2, and its with the last iteration in his final game before Terminus.
This day, which has come for many before I, Has finally come. Today, I was finally able to get my inflictors. I have now joined the ranks of those many Cryxian Warlords who can be protected from the slings, arrows and bullets of outrageous fortune. It is a day I have looked forward to for a very, very long time. I’ve got two lists I’ve been eyeing for a long time, and I finally get to take a chance on both of them. I’ve talked a few times about them here, but I’ve been working on one of them continuously. Even today I’ve changed it. Lets take a look at my current, probably stupid, Lich Lord Terminus list.
With Privateer revealing that they will be looking to address the Cryxian ability to play into gunlines and my general lack of playing time, I’ve started to branch out into list that, while might not be the best, or even good, into a gunline, might be my pairing with a list that covers that match up for me. I have also, while working with the Coven list, been brainstorming lists for the whole roster, spare a few. Its going to be interesting, going forward, and I think that once the problem with ranged is addressed, it will open up a gammut of different lists. Come, let me show you what I’m thinking about.
